Gail (Hodos) Minsky

Gail (Hodos) Minsky of San Francisco, CA, formerly of Andover, Ma, died January 10, 2006 in an automobile accident in Oakland, CA. She was born on September 28, 1935 in Cambridge to Dr. John and Glena Hodos. She grew up in Somerville, graduating from Medford High School.

A graduate of the University of Connecticut and the Cornell School of Hotel Administration, Gail taught home economics for several years, operated a catering business, and later entered the hotel industry following her graduate work at Cornell. At the time of her death, she was Second Vice President of the Cornell Hotel Society. She enjoyed worldwide travel with her husband, Gary Minsky.

In addition to her husband Gary of San Francisco, she leaves a son, Leonard (Chip) Rosenthal, and his fiancee Juliette Kernion of Austin, TX; a daughter, Margot Rivelis, her husband Michael, and their children Melissa and Sam of Franklin; a brother, Herbert Hodos, and his wife Janet of Greenfield and their children Andrea and Emily of Los Angeles; stepdaughters Risa Harrington and her husband Michael of Shrewsbury, and Sharon Minsky of Grafton; several nieces and a nephew; several step-grandchildren; and a lifelong friend, Sylvia Gordon.

A service will be held on Wednesday, January 18 at 11 am at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, Salem, with burial at Temple B'nai Brith of Somerville Cemetery, Route 128 in Peabody. Shiva will be held at the Rivelis home in Franklin on Wednesday from 5:30 pm (minyon at 7) and on Thursday from 10 am to noon, resuming at 4:00 pm (minyon at 6).
